BIOGRAPHY: IN ITALIAN
Gianluca
was born in Rome in 1989 and, after graduating from high school, he graduated
in Arts, Music and Entertainment at Roma Tre University. From the first years
of his studies, Gianluca began directing and making several short films,
experimenting different film genres and directorial styles. Between 2009 and
2011 he made short films with titles Monochromacy and Dog. In 2012 he attended
directing and photography courses at the film academy Griffith in Rome, during
which he explored directing, screenplay, photography and editing. At the end of
his academic career, Gianluca directs the short film Indole Finis (2013) and
founded the cultural association Parallel Vision together with academic and
university colleagues. Parallel Vision Production aimed to give voice to the
stories of young directors who, like him, wanted to create short films. With
the association he wrote and directed Errore (2014), Porno Amore (2015) and
Baida (2015). Most of them won various prizes and recognitions at festivals
throughout Italy and with the short film Baida, shot in Sicily, Gianluca passed
the first selection, and then entered, in the directing course at the Centro
Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. Between 2016 and 2018 Gianluca writes
and directs several short films that allow him to further experiment with
various forms, styles and film genres including Passanger Roulet (2016),
Atonale (2016), Thomas Quick (2017) and L'accoglienza (2018). In 2019 he
graduated in directing with the short film Racconto Notturno, with which participates
in various Italian and international festivals. After graduating, Gianluca
began working assiduously on film sets as a first assistant. He worked in film
like Lovely boy (2021) directed by Francesco Lettieri, Chiara (2022) directed
by Susanna Nicchiarelli and finally La Chimera (2023) directed by Alice
Rohrwacher. At the same time, he shot the one-minute short horror film Non è ancora
finita (2019) and in 2022 directed the short film Mignolo, produced by the
production company Image Hunters. In recent years Gianluca also began writing
the screenplay “Oltre la terra che fuma” which was optioned by the production
company Sarraz and hopefully in will be shoot in 2024. In 2022 Gianluca wins a
public announcement for financial contributions to the development of original
screenplays by the MiC (Italian Ministry of Culture) with the comedy entitled Piccole
Anomalie. The screenplay is now in negotiation for purchase by various
production companies.
